We source our Ceremonial Grade Matcha Matcha from Kagoshima and is the pride and joy of our local tea farmers. Kagoshima is located on the southern island of Kyûshû, which is known for its lush vegetation and unspoiled nature. The warm and humid climate provides the best conditions during the tea’s growth phase, which is evident in the taste.

The volcanic island produced nutrient-rich soils. No less than eleven active volcanoes still provide valuable minerals and growth of the prized plants with their ash. These optimal conditions have led to the successful cultivation of tea in Kagoshima for about 700 years. The long history and constant optimisation processes have made Kagoshima the second largest tea prefecture in Japan, offering optimal conditions for organic cultivation.
