Everest Base Camp Trail – Nepal

Today we are taken to the Everest Base Camp Trail – Nepal, in the gigantic Himalayas by punitzzz with some giant breathtaking views.

The Everest Base Camp trail (EBC) in Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal is the perfect place for a tea with a view. The trek itself is quite strenuous and demanding but the views of the majestic Himalayas throughout the trek route more than make up for it. No matter how you feel – tired, hot, humid, sweaty or cold, a cup of tea is always offered to refresh and rejuvenate you and to prepare you for the next part of the trail. In fact, it seems every day starts and ends with a cup of tea.

Tea

If you love tea, you’re in luck. The Nepalese people love their tea. It is their daily ritual and they make frequent stops during the day for their tea breaks. We had six tea stops a day every single day of the 14-day trek, which were a welcome break from the arduous trek. We even met a lot of locals carrying tea in their flasks. An attempt to chat with one of them is a definite invitation to share tea and stories with them.

Mint, Ginger, Jasmine and Black tea are the local favorites. Asking for milk usually leads to a big serving of thick yak milk that definitely takes some getting used to. You get to stay at numerous tea houses along the trek route, which aren’t luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, but what makes them great is the camaraderie of the locals the perfect views of the Himalayas. Every dining area in the every tea house almost always has a wood stove in the middle where a lot of tea is had and a lot of stories are shared.
