For today’s #teawithaview we are taken to the mighty city of Shanghai – central coast China by lefrancalexis
Shanghai, this modern global metropolis rivalling with Western capitals in the world stage, has had many names. From the “Paris of the East” to the “New-York of Asia”, it is without a doubt the Pearl of the Orient. In many aspects, this massive city is both mesmerizing and disconcerting. While everything needs to be bigger, faster and better, one can easily feel inspired and frustrated, included and ostracized, wanted and shunned. But Shanghai has a lot to offer.
With any dream seeming possible and forthcoming and traditional mindsets always nearby, it is a stimulating yet confusing bipolar city stuck in between modernity and tradition. Vibrant and cosmopolite, it is full of life and vitality, just like the symbol flower of the city – the Bai Yulan in bloom. I may have felt like a nobody in my hometown, while I can feel like somebody in a city of 20 million. It might not make perfect sense, but that’s the beauty that makes this place so unique.
Shanghai is a city of contradictions easy to fall in love with.
What is your favorite place to have a cup of tea? #teawithaview
My fetish place to enjoy a cup of tea is definitely at the top of the Yuyuan Garden, on a hidden terrace offering a great and clear view of the modern city skyline.
